Welcome To Lockdown!

Evening lovely friends,

So here we are in lockdown all thanks to Coronavirus.

I seem to have good and bad days that alternate, how routine! 

But I am learning the art of distraction!

I have really been enjoying instagram, youtube and cooking programs. They have really been getting me through this uncertain time.

Here's what I've been up too.  

Way before we got into lockdown I had planned to have my hair cut again for Little Princess Trust as my hair has got so long - you can probably see from previous pictures but of course the moment we went into lockdown  I started to doubt whether we would see our hairdresser before I turnt fully into Rapunzel (the following day she texted to cancel which I was totally prepared for) but armed with youtube tutorials I handed the hair scissors over to my Mum and she cut off 12 inches and it was so needed. I couldn't handle the thought of washing and blow drying my super long hair anymore.  It was starting to give me migraines too so it was time. I think my Mum did an amazing job.

We've been baking. 

I absolutely love baking its so good for my brain - it just takes me away! 

We made a red velvet cake and golden flapjack! Delicious!

Clap For The NHS/ Clap For Our Carers!

We've been out every Thursday clapping for this cause! So fantastic and makes me feel all warm inside. Especially as my Dad is an NHS keyworker himself! It means a lot to see the street wave and give him a lot of attention. He has been working so hard lately and its been such an anxious time for all of us trying to keep safe!

Drinking wine!

I mean the rule of thumb is if either a cup of tea or glass of wine can't help me then its pretty serious!

I actually took some time to do my makeup and hair and take some photos for Instagram and I feel completely inspired again now!

My Hair Donation: Little Princess Trust

This is such a special post for me. This is something that has meant so much to me and I'm so excited to share it with you all! 

Lets take this story right back to the beginning. I was always the girl with long dark hair. Never really changed my hairstyle, I kept it very much the same. Straight, long and brunette. Never dyed, never experimented. My family always knew this was my style. I just grew and I got the occasional cut to make it healthier. This whole hair donation idea came from someone who was so important to me, so influential to me and who had my respect. My Grandad. He was watching me brush my hair one day, he said to me "Victoria, your hair is so long, don't ever just get that cut and throw it in the bin, send that to a charity, it can be used to make wigs for people who have lost their hair through cancer" My Grandad had cancer at this time, he was a man that always thoughts of others. From that conversation, I replied yeah, okay, I will! I never once had my cut from then. I let it grow and grow and waited till the right time to get it cut for charity. We sadly lost my Grandad in 2012, it broke my heart, I had never felt a feeling like it. It was the first person I had lost in my life.

I held on to what he had asked me to do. I held on to my hair, it reminded me of that conversation, it reminded me of what he wanted me to do for him and it reminded me of the man who asked me. My hair continued to grow - a year and a bit on it had got so long I was trapping it in the top of my jeans. It became harder and harder to work with and style. Maintaining it became a little challenging so by this time I knew it was time to get it cut. We researched what I had to do. We looked at lots of different charities and weighted up different things. Eventually I found the right charity for my hair, Little Princess Trust. Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs for young boys and girls across the UK & Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other illness. As a self conscious girl myself, I could only imagine the heartbreaking battles these young children go through with cancer or other illness's and the thought of losing your own hair too must be devastating.

 I had the chance to help with my real hair. So I gave them a call. I filled out a form for them and arranged a date with my hairdresser for a cut. My hairdresser came round, walked in the door and jokingly said: "Oh are you getting it all cut off Vicky?"... Much to her surprise I answered with "Yeah, for charity"... She was startled! There was no going back now! My hairdresser put my hair into a ponytail and tied it off at the bottom, she cut above the ponytail and then made it even. I had 52cm cut! Over 15 inches of hair cut off!! We then bagged it up and sent it off to Little Princess Trust Charity. I've received a certificate for my hair donation a few weeks later.
